Course contents

The main focus in this course is to develop the students' skills and proficiency in general and professional English and enable them to communicate well and more correctly in spoken and written contexts. Some of the topics may be closely tied to the syllabus in other courses in the Bachelor's Degree Programme in Leadership, Innovation and Market and will be used as basic material for acquisition of vocabulary and grammar exercises, in addition to the general development of knowledge in these fields.

Language of instruction

Language of instruction and examination is English.

Teaching methods

The teaching will take place during the whole term, with certain teaching free periods when students are expected to study on their own. The lessons will consist of lectures, seminars, language and grammar exercises, prepared discussions, student presentations, group work/case studies, meetings and discussions.

Quality assurance:

The course undergoes a midterm evaluation or an end-of-term evaluation every third year.


Assessment

The following coursework requirements must be completed and approved in order to take the final exam: 

2 written assignments (approx. 5 pages) + 1 oral presentation (6 -10 min). All written work is based on the following standard: Times New Roman, 12, 1,5, 2,5 cm.

Some tasks in the coursework requirements will be written in class.

The work requirements are assessed as approved/not approved.

Assessment method:

A 4-hour written school exam in Wiseflow.  Performance in the course will be assessed on an A-F grades scale. Grades are A-E for passed and F for failed. A re-sit examination is offered in the event of an F grade.

The deadline to register for a re-sit examination is January 15th for the autumn semester and August 15th for the spring semester.
