ARK-2030 Nordlig kulturhistorie: data, analyser og tolkninger - 10 stp

Dette emnet gir fordypet innsikt i hvordan arkeologien setter sammen materiale, metoder og teori for å komme frem til kulturhistoriske tolkninger av de fortidige samfunn og deres forandringer.

Emnet vil være prosjektbasert og ta utgangspunkt i 1 evt 2 kulturhistoriske temaer. Disse vil rullere fra år til år.

Emnet vil gi en økt forståelse for grunnlaget for de kulturhistoriske tolkninger ut i fra en eller flere av nedenstående tilnærminger:

• Det gis en grundigere innføring i eksisterende arkeologisk funnmateriale i Fennoskandia innen de utvalgte temaer, basert blant annet på utgravings- og registreringsrapporter, datainnsamlinger, tekstmateriale og publikasjoner. Dette materialet vil bli analysert ved hjelp av ulike metoder og teorier med henblikk på en kritisk vurdering av de foreliggende tolkninger.
• Ulike tolkninger av en kulturhistorisk problemstilling vil bli evaluert opp mot hverandre med henblikk på en kritisk analyse av hhv det empiriske grunnlaget, metodenes relevans og det teoretiske perspektiv.

Generell studiekompetanse eller realkompetanse.

Forkunnskaper i form av grunnkunnskap til den kulturhistoriske utviklingen i Norden (ARK-1012 og ARK-1013 eller tilsvarende) samt arkeologisk metode og teori (ARK-1006 og ARK-1007 eller tilsvarende) kreves.

Etter bestått emne skal studentene ha følgende læringsresultat:

Kunnskaper og forståelse:

-bred kunnskap om det empiriske materialet knyttet til det kulturhistoriske tema som emnets prosjektarbeid tar utgangspunkt i

- forståelse av hvordan valg av metode og teori har sammenheng med de resulterende tolkninger

- økt kunnskap om den kulturhistoriske egenarten i nordområdene

Ferdigheter:

- økt evne til kritisk vurdering av foreliggende tolkninger

- begynnende evne til selvstendig analyse av empiri

- grunnleggende forståelse for bruk av sentrale primære samlinger knyttet til kilder som litteratur, arkiv, magasin og databaser

Kompetanse:

- grunnleggende kompetanse i analyse av tolkningsprosesser knyttet til kulturhistoriske problemstillinger

- få innsikt i hvordan primære kilder fremskaffes og hvordan disse kritisk kan evalueres

Undervisningsspråk er norsk/skandinavisk

Eksamensspråk er norsk/skandinavisk. Dersom studenten foretrekker det kan skriftlige besvarelser leveres på engelsk.

Arbeidskrav

Det skal innleveres to skriftlige oppgaver på 4-6 sider til angitt dato. Det vil bli gitt tilbakemelding på oppgaven. De to oppgaver skal, evt i revidert form, leveres som samlet mappe til avsluttende eksamen.

Eksamen og vurdering

Karaktergivende eksamen er en mappevurdering som består av 2 skriftlige innleveringer, hver på 4-6 sider (ca 1500 ord, gjerne med illustrasjoner i tillegg) som leveres til nærmere oppgitte frister i løpet av semesteret. Den samlede mappen på 2 oppgaver leveres på gitt dato i slutten av semesteret. Endelig samlet karakter settes etter innlevering av hele mappen med ev. reviderte oppgaver.

Oppgavene vurderes etter karakterskala fra A-E for bestått og F for ikke bestått.

Kontinuasjons­eksamen

Dersom de 2 skriftlige besvarelsene samlet vurderes til F, vil det være mulig å kontinuere ved å fremstille seg til ny eksamen. Kontinuasjonseksamen gjennomføres ved at hele mappa leveres inn på nytt. Studenten vil få en tilbakemelding på hvilke oppgaver som har ført til karakteren F. Disse skal bearbeides og suppleres før mappa leveres på nytt.
