Introduction; Manufacturing system; Models of Manufacturing system; CAD and its integration into computer integrated manufacturing system; CAPP and its integration into computer integrated manufacturing system; Shop floor and its control; Communication system and protocol; methods for manufacturing system planning and analysis.

Objective of the course
Learning outcomes, skills and attitudes
The course offers students insights of subsystems of a computer integrated manufacturing system; integration of and communication between those subsystems; and modeling, planning and analysis of manufacturing systems. The course provides elementary understanding of logic and digital control systems and automation of manufacturing operations.
Students will acquire basic training in programming.

Obligatory assignments:
65% of the assignments must be approved.
3 hour written exam accounting for 100% of the grade in the course. Grading is done by A-F grading scale, F is Fail. A re-sit exam will be arranged for this course.
Date for examination
The date for the exam can be changed. The final date will be announced at your faculty early in May and early in November.
