Course contents

Content

History and terminology Economical evaluation of flexible manufacturing systems Design of industrial robots Kinamatic analysis of robotic arms Joint drive systems: electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic. Joint measurement systems: position and velocity measurement. Robot control architectures Robot programming methodologies External devices: camera systems, fixtures, feeders etc. Selected applications in manufacturing


Application deadline

Applicants from Nordic countries: 1 June for the autumn semester and 1 December for the spring semester. Exchange students and Fulbright students: 1 October for the spring semester and 15 April for the autumn semester.

Admission requirements

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS: A relevant undergraduate bachelor Engineering programme with minimum 30 credits Mathematics/statistics topics

Prerequisite(s)

Linear algebra and elementary knowledge in topics related to machine- and electrical- engineering. Basic programming skills.


Objective of the course

Learning outcomes, skills and attitudes

Introduction to the industrial robot. Design of robots and their industrial applications. Technical, economic, and organisational issues related to the implementation of robotics in advanced flexible manufacturing systems.

Mandatory tasks

2/3 of the exercises are mandatory. Exercises are performed individually or as project work by student teams.


Assessment

Working and assessment methods

3 hour written exam account for 100% of the grade in the course.

A re-sit exam will be arranged for this course. The grading will be done by A-F grading scale.

The date for the exam can be changed. The final date will be announced at your faculty early in May and early in November.
