Course contents
Practical examples will be taken from plant genomics, but the course is suitable for biologists in all fields. Topics of genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics will be covered. The course will concentrate on data mining and the use of bioinformatics for the analysis of genes and proteins.
Students will work web-based for the course to perform computer based tasks and prepare a seminar talk on one of the subjects. Course teaching is conditional to a minimum of four and maximum of 10 students.

Objective of the course
A web-based course aimed to give PhD students theoretical and practical knowledge in the area of functional genomics.
Language of instruction
The language of instruction is English and all of the syllabus material is in English. Examination questions will be given in English, but may be answered either in English or a Scandinavian language.
Teaching methods
4 h lecture. 5 h seminars. 18 h computer work (Web-based).
Assessment
Oral seminar presentation and participation in group discussions. Pass/Fail.
