Course contents
The student has to be a member of the ARCTOS PhD School to participate to this course. The course lasts for the whole PhD study. The student will have to attend monthly meetings on selected topics throughout the PhD period. In addition, the student will have to present the progress of his/her thesis (early, middle and final phase), in front of other students, post-docs and senior scientists. The meetings include in addition:
- 3 ALL-ARCTOS meetings. These are half-days scientific seminars arranged 3 times a year, and organized around themes decided by the students at the PhD School. The meeting consists in presentation of invited speakers from other institutions in addition to presentations from the PhD students themselves.
- 1 ARCTOS Forum. Yearly event where all ARCTOS students (full members and associated) gather for a few days to discuss scientific and practical issues connected to the functioning of the PhD school.

Objective of the course
To introduce the students to write a thesis and to make research and publications plans. To discuss arctic marine ecological issues based upon the students' PhD plans and theses.
