The goal is to introduce the students with theoretical and practical knowledge about cultural issues in the Barents Region

Barents dialogue and Cross- Cultural Communication

Cross Border Relations in the Barents Region

Indigenous Peoples in the Barents Region

Business Cooperation in the Barents Region: The Cultural Dimension

Application deadline

Applicants from Nordic countries: 1 June for the autumn semester and 1 December for the spring semester. Applicants from outside the Nordic countries: 1 October for the spring semester and 15 April for the autumn semester.

Admission requirements

Admission requirements:
Nordic applicants: Generell studiekompetanse.

International applicants: Higher Education Entrance Qualification and certified language requirements in English.

A list of the requirements for the Higher Education Entrance Qualification in Norway can be found on the web site from the Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT). For language requirements we refer to NOKUT's GSU-list.

Objective of the course

After completing the subject, the candidate:

will be familiar with the central theories relevant for understanding cultural issues in the Barents region
will be able to use the theories to understand and analyze cultural issues in the Barents region
will be aware of the importance of understanding the complexity of the cultural forms in the Barents region

Teaching methods

The course will be taught online by the use of the virtual classroom programme Fronter.

Assessment

Map evaluation; including several semester based tasks and one final exam.

A-F. A is the best mark; E is lowest mark for a pass. F is fail.

A re-sit exam will be arranged for this course
