Course content

Provide students with the knowledge and training in main concepts, models and tools within the fields of management with a focus on management of innovative organisations.

Objectives of the course

Knowledge

Upon completing the course the candidate:

K1: Has basic knowledge in fields such as teams and team development

K2: Has basic knowledge of the central elements of management and leadership.

K2: Has basic knowledge of current ideas of what constitutes innovative organizations.

Skills

Upon completing the course the candidate:

S1: Develop concrete descriptions of specific elements within innovative organizations.

S2: Can analyze and perform assessment of organizations with respect to innovation momentum

S3: Build effective teams and analyze their performance.

General competence

Upon completing the course the candidate:

GK1: Understand importance of innovation and entrepreneurial behavior specifically within existing organizations.

GK2: Can form and manage teams expected to perform creatively and produce innovative results

Teaching methods

During two separated and concentrated weeks all theory and projectoriented work will be done. Each day of Monday-Thursday (0800-1600) are split into one half of theoretic lectures and one half of project work in teams.

At the end of each week, each project group (team) will present a project report.

The course will not be available as an online course. (No video recording of lectures)

Quality assurance:

Subject evaluation according to the faculty`s quality system.


Assessment

Arbeidskrav:

Two distributed assignments are to be completed. These will be presented in the start of each of the two weeks. Students will be divided into groups, and each group will be expected to produce a report for each week. These two reports will be graded and combined these represent 50% of the total assessment.

Exam:

A final written exam will count as the rest 50% of the total assessment. 

Grading will be done by A-F grading scale, F is Fail.

A re-sit exam will be arranged for this course for the students who failed in the written exam. The project reports do not have to be completed for the re-sit exam if these already where graded as passed for the ordinary exam.
