TEK-3001 Operation and Maintenance Management - 10 stp
The course will describe central factors and methods used to optimize activities in design and development, installation and commissioning, operations and maintenance, removal with respect to costs, profits and acceptable risk level for health, safety an environment (HSE) as well as investments. A project report shall be prepared on a subject related to Operations and maintenance management. The context will be on offshore techonology (as for example oil and gas platforms or offshore wind farms). The course will be taught in four modules with the following content:
Module 1:Indtoduction to operating and maintenance.. Maintenance as a business function and added value process. Trends in maintenance . Definitions and terminology. Types of maintenance, choice of maintenance, maintenance strategy and methods. NORSOK standards, legislative requirements and governmental regulations. Establishment of goals, requirements and risk acceptance criteria with respect to HSE.
Module 2: Concepts, tools and techniques. Engineering analysis, Coding and function hierarchy of equipment. Failure mode effects and criticality analysis. Fault tree analysis. Event tre analysis etc. Design out/design for maintenance considering reliability, availability, maintainability, supportability.Life cycle cost analysis. Spare parts inventory and logistics. Data and information management, CMMS
Modul 3: Development of maintenance program and maintenance management. Reliability cenetred maintenance (RCM). Risk maintenance (RBM) and Risk based inspections (RBI). Maintenance objectives and strategies.Maintenance management and associated work processes.
Modul 4: Operations and maintenance management in the Arctic. Industrial activities in the Artic.Operational environment factors. Design for Arctic conditions. Development of maintenance strategies for Arctic locations. .
The goal of the course is to develop a basic understanding of central aspects, principles, methods and tools related to the management of operations and maintenance of advanced, complex and integrated machines, equipment, products, systems and to apply the knowledge in a practical industrial setting.
The students should develop:
- An ability to identify, formulate, and solve operations and maintenance problems
- An understanding and usage of common methods, tools and analysis.
- An ability to design an operation and maintenance management plan for a system, component, or process to meet the desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability
- An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering in development of operations and maintenance management plans and to use the techniques, skills, and modern tools necessary for operations and maintenance management practice.
- An ability to function in a multi-disciplinary team
- An ability to communicate effectively
