A relevant undergraduate bachelor Engineering programme with minimum 30 credits Mathematics/statistics topics

Course content

Discrete-time signal and systems, z-transform, sampling, transform analysis, frequency response, impulse response, filter design techniques, discrete Fourier transform, Fourier-analysis.

Objectives of the course

  • The students should have up to date knowledge of how a complete digital signal processing systems work, from discretization, via internal signal processing, to the final analog or digital output from the system.
  • The students should understand and be able to explain how digital signals processing systems work, and they should be able to apply the main methods from the course  to physical signal processing systems.
  • The students should be able to understand the benefits and limitations of digital signal processing systems, and be able to apply discrete-time signal processing methods like filtering and Fourier-transform analysis to physical problems, e.g. digital control systems.

Teaching methods

Classroom lectures and written exercises. The course takes two weeks, each of 30 hours.  Each day 4 hours of lectures, and 2 hours of exercises.

Assessment

Mandatory tasks 5 of 10 exercises must be delivered at least 1 week before exam.  

Exam 3 hour written exam. Marks A-F.  F equals not passed. A re-sit exam will be arranged for this course
