SVF-3205 International emergency preparedness and environmental protection in the High North - 10 ECTS
Course content
The course will provide both a theoretical and empirical component to address the course content. The first section of the course will provide an introduction to international emergency response, international law and institutions. Here the students will be provided an analytical platform on which to study international cooperation in the High North. The second part of the course will provide a series of cases that highlights national policies and international cooperation in the high north. This includes cases such as High North political strategies, climate change, environmental cooperation, fisheries, petroleum development, maritime transport, security politics, radiation protection, search and rescue, and oil spill emergency response.Objectives of the course
The students shall learn about international agreements and institutions that regulate cooperation on issues related to emergency preparedness and environmental protection in the high north. The students shall attain theoretical knowledge on international cooperation and empirical insight into different forms of such cooperation in the High North. By the end of the course, students are to have the ability to present and analyze different forms of cooperation on emergency preparedness and environmental protection in the High North.Error rendering component
