Applicants from Nordic countries: 1 June for the autumn semester and 1 December for the spring semester. Exchange students and Fulbright students: 1 October for the spring semester and 15 April for the autumn semester.

Course content

Theories and concepts for analysing intercultural communication in face-to-face communication and in visual and textual communication.

Objectives of the course

Knowledge

The student has:

  • Basic theoretical knowledge of analysing interculturalcommunication.

Skills

The student is able to:

  • The student will have theoretical and practical skills in analysing intercultural communication and practical knowledge of how to handle communication in an intercultural milieu.

General Competence

The student is able to:

The student will have basic knowledge that prepares for work in a multicultral context and knowledge of the challenges of intercultural communication.

English

Teaching methods

Mainly lectures, following a weekly time schedule. Individual work, including obligatory assignments. Teamwork, including mandatory assignments.

Assessment

Requirements; 75 % attendance in classes.

Individual written school exam; 6-hours

Grading; A -F. E is the lowest grade for a pass. F is failure.

Possibilities to re-sit exam in case of F.
