Course content

Study the theoretical fundament and fundamental terminology of risk and reliability. Basic analysis techniques and main tools and methodes. Analysis in the planning, design and the operation phase. Cause and effect analyses, precaution and ALARP principle. Use of experience, accept criteria, decision process. Planning and practial methods. Principles of risk management.Basic reliability concepts and terminology, basic concepts from statistics and reliability theory. Fundamentals of reliability block diagrams (RBDs). Life distributions. Graphical methods for analysing failure data. Methods for analysing data. Repairable system reliability. System reliability optimization.

Objectives of the course

Provide knowledge about the theoretical fundament of risk and reliability analysis, and skills to carry out and make use of risk- and reliability analyses in real situations.

4 hours written exam. Letter grade A - F.
