GEO-3135 Rock-slope failures: Geology, hazard and monitoring - 10 stp
Knowledge: The students will get a systematic presentation of theories, principles and practices which is the basis for analysis and considerations of stability, hazard and risk related to landslides in bedrock. Practical exercises and field investigations will give the students a systematic approach to the topic.
Skills: The course has a major focus om exercises and fieldwork in order to solve practical issues. This will put requirements to the students in form of practical and creative skills, including the ability to dissemination and communication. The course deliveries include an extensive report which requires these important skills.
Competence: Through a combination of lectures, practical exercises, and with a special focus on fieldwork, the students will get the possibility to develop both personal and social abilities. The topic imposes strict requirements to reflections, critical thinking and responsibility. The students will after the approval of the course, be able to work with landslide problems in the public and private sector. Furthermore, it will provide a good basis for further studies on PhD level within this topic.
