Course content

The master thesis is an independent scientific work, under the guidance by one or several supervisors which comprises part of the Master's degree examination and which should show independent understanding, reflection and maturity.

The work should be featured by research, the thesis ought to have elements of new knowledge or new methods. The thesis should be based on literature studies, data from field work, laboratory experiments or a combination of these elements.

Students who are admitted to the master's degree normally select a project during the first semester, and no later than one month before the end of the second semester.  For students associated within a research project, the supervisor and the student must ensure that it is being written a supervisor contract. In many research projects it is assumed that the project manager or one or more project partners are the owners of the project results and has exclusive rights to exploit them. This particularly applies to research projects that are externally funded. All students will fill out a supervision contract in consultations with their supervisor. The contract has to be approved by the Department.

Dead line for handing in the contract is during the third semester for all students;
