The Frames of SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

Breakfast Seminar at the Mandela Auditorium, Centre for Peace Studies

Tuesday September 21 at 09:00

Serving from 08:45

September 21 this year, we celebrate 40 years since the UN established the International Peace Day by inviting to a breakfast seminar on Sustainable Development Goal nr. 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. What are the historical roots of today’s perceptions of peace, justice and strong institution, and the connection between them, the way this is conceptualized through SDG 16? What are the legal implications of the objectives and targets of this goal, as defined by the UN? And how does Norway work with the UN towards the operationalization of SDG 16?

To address these questions, we have invited three panelists:

  • Rasmus Gedde-Dahl, Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Magne Frostad, professor, Faculty of Law, UiT
  • Christine Smith-Simonsen, associate professor, Centre for Peace Studies/Department of History, UiT

This breakfast seminar is arranged by CPS in collaboration with FN-Sambandet
