Take control of your PhD journey: Literature search for the humanities

How to search for literature in the humanities

When doing research in the humanities, you have a large amount of text sources to delve into, stretching from medieval manuscripts to the newest digital journals and books. To find your way through the enormous amount of resources available at the library and on the internet, we have created a course to help you do systematic searches in a selection of academic databases.

The course is designed as a workshop at one of UiT’s computer rooms, where there will be a combination of database information and practical searching. To make the course as useful as possible, we will try to adapt our approach to the current PhD projects within the humanities at UiT.

The following databases will be covered, in addition to Oria: MLA, Scopus and ProQuest Dissertations & Theses. We will also offer individual guidance and tips for searching other, subject specific databases.

The seminar is organised by Helene N. Andreassen and Mariann Løkse.

Light refreshments will be served during the break.

This seminar is a freestanding part of the seminar series Take control of your PhD journey: From (p)reflection to publishing.
