Heart to Heart symposium II February 13-14 2020

Major new findings and future perspectives of collaborative studies of health differences between Norway and Russia.

Join us for an exciting two day symposium in Arkhangelsk!

The Heart to Heart symposium II to be held in Arkhangelsk at Northern State Medical University is a continuation of the successful Heart to Heart symposium 2018 held in Tromsø at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, which gathered more than 100 senior and early career researchers and clinicians from Russia, Norway and UK, as well as representatives of Norwegian health authorities.

The mortality rate from cardiovascular disease in the Russian population in working age is eight times higher than in Norway. The Heart to Heart initiative aims to understand the reasons behind the difference by comparisons between the Norwegian Tromsø Study and the Russian Know Your Heart study in Novosibirsk and Arkhangelsk, a part of the International Project on Cardiovascular Disease in Russia.

Join the Heart to Heart symposium to hear about the most recent results presented by our team of international researchers:

  • Investigate the scope and new possibilities for cross-border research using the unique comparable data including a broad spectrum of health-related, sociological, and psychological measures
  • Learn more about methodology and challenges of comparative international research
  • Contribute ideas about how to develop future unique and scientifically exciting comparisons
  • Participate in discussions on how to use the derived knowledge for better health across borders
