How to structure and document research data

A good structure and documentation of research data are essential both for your own work, and for the sharing of your data. When you collect data, it might be that you primarily focus on the collection procedure, at the expense of structuring and documentation of the data. This might make it more difficult to investigate your data later, and in the worst case, you must recollect your data. If you plan to share your data, there are particular demands on good structure and documentation in order for others to be able to understand and (re)use the data correctly.

In this course, we offer advice on how to structure and document research data according to best practice at all stages of the research project, and what aspects you should be especially aware of when sharing them.
