2019_Seminar Guest: Maria Danielsen

At this WONA seminar Maria Danielsen presented her understanding and critique of Heidegger’s definition of «world» as used in his seminal work Being and Time (Sein und Zeit) from 1927 and The Origin of the Work of Art (Der Ursprung des Kunstwerkes) from 1935-36. In the presentation she set Heidegger’s terminology against posthumanist thinking, above all Graham Harman’s object-oriented ontology, and who is frequently quoted as a critical voice and an inspirational source for artists in the past decade.

Maria Danielsen is employed as a university lecturer at the Department of Philosophy at UiT, and teaches philosophical aesthetics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tromsø. Maria has written her master thesis in philosophy, entitled «Understanding the World and Ourselves in a Different Way: A Study of Aesthetic Experience».
