Ingrid Halland is an architecture and design historian and art critic currently based in Oslo/Trondheim, Norway. She is associate professor at the Department of Art and Media Studies, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) where she teaches contemporary art theory, politics of aesthetics, and art historiography. She also holds the position as associate professor II at The Oslo School of Architecture and Design where she teaches at the PhD programme. Her research interests include late-twentieth century architecture and design, aesthetic theory, and continental philosophy, as well as ethics of globalization, systems biology, and theories of environment. Her doctoral thesis Error Earth: Displaying Deep Cybernetics in ‘The Universitas Project’ and ‘Italy: The New Domestic Landscape’, 1972 examined the interdependencies of cybernetics, ecology, and ontology in postmodern architecture and design. Her academic work is published in journals such as Log, Journal of Design History, Arkitektur N and Kunst og kultur, and her work as an art critic is published in art magazines, museum catalogues, and artist books.
