Why preserve Sámiid Vuorká-Dávvirat (SVD) / Hvorfor ta vare på Sámiid Vuorká-Dávvirat (SVD)
It has been decided by the Sámi Parliament that the first Sami museum built for the purpose, Sámiid Vuorká-Dávvirat (SVD) in Karasjok, will be demolished. Important stories are tied to the building from the beginning of the 1970s. It is also a work of art that came into being through a close collaboration between the architects Jessen & Jessen and the artist Iver Jåks. The monumental work Gudenes dans (The Dance of the Gods) is cast into the wall. In this open seminar, WONA gathered voices to preserve the SVD. There were short introductions by Irene Snarby, Joar Nango, Irene Nordhaug Hansen, Hallstein Guthu, and Randi Sjølie, followed by an open discussion. The seminar was led by Geir Tore Holm.
