The risk of VTE vary with age in men and women. Furthermore, men have a higher death rate than women in all age groups, which may overestimate the incidence rates of VTE. In this project, we will investigate the life-time risk of VTE in men and women after accounting for competing risk by death. We will further investigate the influence of body height on risk of VTE in men and women, and estimate the proportion of events in the population that can be attributed to prothrombotic genotypes in men and women.
