This area covers different topics within the field of health psychology, including provider-patient communication, psychosomatics, psychotherapy, and transcultural aspects. Moreover, it includes studies involving digitalization and e-health. Some central ongoing projects are:
Dropout from school and work among adolescents in North Norway (2013-ongoing)
This project consists of several studies related to the prevention of school dropout and the consequences of dropout:

The importance of medical case reporting (2011-ongoing)
This project has examined the original medical genre of case reporting from different perspectives, including by bibliometric methods, its older and more recent history, and the merits and limitations of case reporting. In addition, different case reports have been produced, relating to various aspects of psychiatric clinical practice. Dr. Nissen was in 2020 awarded a Ph.D. based on his work in this project.
The role of social media as a source of information about health and illness (2014-ongoing)
In this project, the importance of social media as a source of medical information and misinformation has been examined. In particular, we have examined how Twitter (now X) and Facebook have been used to spread correct as well as false information about ongoing epidemics (Ebola, Covid-19) and vaccines, the treatment of diabetes, and the treatment of autism. Central collaborators in this project are associate professor Gabarron (Østfold Univ College) and postdoc. Oyeyemi (Department of Community Medicine, UiT).
