Acute Infections and Sepsis (P1)
This project aims to improve the early detection and treatment of serious infections, including sepsis and bloodstream infections, in Northern Norway. It focuses on strengthening the transition from pre-hospital care to hospital treatment, so that patients with severe infections can be identified earlier and receive appropriate care more quickly.
By combining clinical research with development and evaluation of faster diagnostic methods, the project seeks to support more precise treatment decisions and responsible antibiotic use. It will also explore biological indicators that may help assess infection severity and prognosis. Overall, the project aims to improve patient outcomes, reduce delays in diagnosis and treatment, and contribute to better preparedness against antimicrobial resistance.
To address these objectives, the project consists four work-packages (WPs), each led by one or more principal investigators.
