Data privacy

All participants have provided consent for the collection and further use of their personal data in The Norwegian Women and Cancer Study (NOWAC) by agreeing to the consent question in the questionnaires. As participants, you have the right to know what personal information NOWAC has collected and to correct any incorrect data. Furthermore, participation is voluntary. You may withdraw your consent at any time, no questions asked. You may also request that we delete your personal information unless your information has already been anonymized, published, or used in completed analyses. Please read our information letters and questionnaires for more information about the personal data that has been collected.

The only link between participants as a person and their personal information in the study is a coupling key managed by Statistics Norway (SSB). Therefore, it is not possible for NOWAC or any research project to identify individual participants. Data from the questionnaires are stored on an access-controlled, secure, digital platform. EUTRO, our research administrative tool, provides an overview of our health data, biological material and project information. The biological material is stored in UiTs Core Facility for Biobank.

The legal basis for processing participants' personal information is that it is necessary to carry out a task in the public interest, in accordance with Article 6 1 e or Article 9 2 j GDPR.

UiT The Arctic University of Norway is the data controller and responsible for the prosessing of personal data in the Norwegian Women and Cancer study. If you would like to know more about how we process your personal information, you may contact UiT's data protection office
