Head and Heart Study

The Head and Heart Study: Mental Health in individuals with myocardial infarction, atrial fibrillation, and stroke. The aim of this study is to use data from the Tromsø Study to understand what affects the mental health of individuals suffering from cardiovascular diseases.

We have two main hypotheses. The first is that cardiovascular diseases affect mental health both before and after the first disease event. The second hypothesis is that risk factors such as other illnesses, health habits, and social conditions significantly impact the mental health of individuals with cardiovascular diseases. Through this study, we aim to gain a better understanding of how various factors are interconnected and influence the quality of life of patients who have experienced myocardial infarction, atrial fibrillation, or stroke. The results may contribute to the development of better treatment methods that consider both physical and mental health.
