Personality disorders in DSM-5 and ICD-11

The dimensional models for personality disorders in DSM-5 and ICD-11.

There is a paradigm shift in the understanding and diagnosis of personality disorders. In DSM-5 and ICD-11, new models based on a dimensional approach are included that replace previous diagnostic categories. According to these new models, personality disorder is assessed based on personality functioning and maladaptive personality traits. In our research projects, we examine methods for assessing these components in the new models. Our main collaborators are Oslo University Hospital and the Center forPersonality Disorder Research, Psychiatry Region Zealand, Denmark.
