ACTNOW

Advancing understanding of Cumulative Impacts on European marine biodiversity, ecosystem functions and services for human wellbeing.

ACTNOW provides regulators and decision-makers the knowledge and fit-for-purpose tools they need to combat biodiversity loss in coastal and marine habitats threatened by climate change interacting with other local and regional drivers.
The overarching key actions of the project are

  • to reveal areas of high biodiversity and climate value,
  • recommend effective conservation actions to be implemented,
  • promote better respect for nature in public and business decision-making,
  • and thus be a world leader in tackling the global biodiversity crisis.

Within the ACTNOW project, UiT is leading a task on the food web responses to cumulative pressures in the European Seas. Within this task, we will analyse how the composition in feeding guilds has changed across taxa and ecoregions. We will also analyse marine food web properties, and estimate the resilience of the food web to cumulative pressures, such as climate change and fisheries.
