Pre-hospital thrombolysis

The Decentralized pre-hospital thrombolysis of stroke project is a reserach and innovation initiative to assess the feasibility of a novel cockpit solution for remote-control of CT-scanners at a decentralized medical centre (DMC) for diagnosis and thrombolysis treatment  of acute ischemic stroke patients. Clinical assessments are performed on site by paramedics, in combination with real-time video/audio-communication with a stroke specialist at the referral hospital. The objectives are to study the effect of decentralized pre-hospital thrombolysis on

    - Reduction in time to diagnosis and treatment

    - Reduction in costs by reducing need for helicopter transportation to hospital

    - Efficient sharing of competence and harmonization of clinical examination

    - Better use of resources and competence in the region independent of physical location
