Request for explanation about a grade
A candidate is entitled to an explanation of the grade awarded for his/her performance in accordance with Section 5-3 of the Act relating to universities and university colleges. Requests for an explanation about the awarding of a grade must be submitted no more than three (3) weeks after announcement of the grade in question. Such requests for an explanation shall be sent to the faculty. Students have the right to receive an explanation about their grade after each individual examination. Explanations may be given orally or in writing at the examiner’s discretion, and shall normally be given within two (2) weeks of the candidate’s request for such an explanation. If the candidate has requested an explanation of the grade, the deadline for appealing a grade will be three (3) weeks from the date the student receives the explanation.

Appeal about a grade
The right to appeal about a grade is regulated by Section 5-3 of the Act relating to universities and university colleges and Sections 45 and 46 of the Regulations for examinations at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. Appeals about grades shall be submitted within three weeks of the announcement of the examination results. If the candidate has requested an explanation of the grade or appealed about procedural errors, the deadline is reckoned from the date the student receives the explanation or the appeal about procedural errors is finally ruled on.
On appeal, the candidate’s answer paper will be presented to a new examination committee for reassessment of the examination grade. The grade following the reassessment is final and may not be appealed. The result of the appeal may or may not be in the candidate’s favour, cf. Section 46 of the Regulations for examinations at UiT The Arctic University of Norway.
