Congratulation to the decentralized nursing education!
We have several reasons to pop the champagne bottle. Not only does the nursing education celebrate their 25-year birthday this year, they also won the annual Education Award from FLT.

The decentralised nursing education have cause for celebration. |
– It feels very good to receive this recognition, says Arnfinn Andersen, senior advisor at the Faculty Management of Health Sciences at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. A quarter of a century ago, he helped start the decentralized nurse education.
– This is very pleasant news on behalf of us who once developed this model, as well as UiT as an institution, he says.
FLT (The Norwegian Engineers and Managers Association) presents this award annually. The mission is to encourage and award those who strengthens their real and formal qualification through education, or those who contribute to life-long learning. As well as honor and glory, the winner receives 150. 000 NOK.
Well-deserved Award
Nina Emaus, head of department for Health and Care Sciences, is also pleased about the news of the award.
– This is excellent news, and it is a well-deserved award, she says. – This years’ award to decentralized nurses program goes to a profession that has worked continuously for 25 years in order to educate qualified nurses for all of Troms County.
– All this time, the profession has focused on educational development and renewal, and works in strong national and international networks, Emaus says.
The jury says they have emphasized the fact that the program has educated nurses for counties and regions outside the most densely populated areas in Troms County. The jury finds that this effort in an exemplary way highlights how life-long learning can and should be done.
«Perhaps the most important thing is that the Department of Health and Care Sciences through 14 classes have contributed to 400 adults having not only acquired the art of nursing, but also found a purpose and sense of accomplishment, which in turn has made them grow as human beings, and as active contributors of both their workplace and the local community of which they are a part of”, the jury writes.
