INDIGENOUS WOMEN OF THE WORLD ACHIEVED INCLUSION OF IMPORTANT PARAGRAPH IN CSW 57 DRAFT AGREED CONCLUSIONS

Indigenous women were very present and active at the 2013 57th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).

After a hard work of advocacy and lobby, we, Indigenous Women, achieved the inclusion of a specific paragraph on Indigenous Women in the agreed conclusions adopted by CSW 57 which states:

27. The Commission reaffirms that indigenous women often suffer multiple forms of
discrimination and poverty which increase their vulnerability to all forms of violence; and
stresses the need to seriously address violence against indigenous women and girls.
