Dr. Jean Paul Pirnay graduated as Industrial Engineer in Biochemistry and Biotechnology at the University College Ghent and obtained a Scientific Degree in Agriculture Development at the University of Ghent. Received a PhD in Medical Sciences from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Performed his military service in 1993 and served since then as a researcher in the Queen Astrid Military Hospital (QAMH) in Brussels, where he contributed to the development of the human cell and tissue banks and to the introduction of molecular microbiology and bacteriophage therapy.

Since 2005, he is head of the Laboratory for Molecular and Cellular Technology (LabMCT) of the QAMH, and is involved in several research projects, such as the development of therapeutic bacteriophage preparations.

Dr. Sabrina Green is a Microbiology PhD graduate from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. As a graduate student she cofounded BCM TAILOR Labs the first end-to-end, not for profit phage discovery and treatment developing center in the US. She currently co-directs the center.

Her primary goal is to expedite the TAILOR pipeline for development of phage therapeutics to make personalized phage treatment feasible for acute infections. 

Dr. Gabriel de Freitas Almeida obtained his PhD in Microbiology in 2007 focusing on host-virus interactions. Since then has worked on different biological systems until starting his phage career in Finland, investigating the bacteriophage adherence to mucus model.

Recently he joined the CANS-UiT and aim to pursue phage-bacteria interactions on mucosal surfaces as a mean to develop prophylactic phage therapy approaches.
