Title: AI for Embedded/Mobile Platforms
Lecturer: Dr. Amit Kumar Singh, University of Essex, UK

Abstract
Embedded/Mobile platforms based on multi-core chips are prevalent in several application domains, e.g. automotive, multimedia and cloud computing. These platforms are able to fulfil the ever-increasing performance requirements by exploiting the parallel processing capabilities of multi-core chips. However, efficient management of the chip resources is required during the systems’ design and operation due to several reasons such as to increase the operational time of battery-operated systems and improve thermal efficiency and reliability.

This talk will provide an overview of various resource management methodologies that perform either design-time and/or run-time optimizations. These optimizations employ various principles. This talk will focus mainly the principles around Artificial Intelligence (AI). In particular, some recently proposed resource management methodologies that bring significant reduction in energy consumption and operating temperature will be covered in detail. It will also be shown that the methodologies are capable of handling dynamism in applications by considering their run-time aspects and provide timing guarantees. The current and upcoming trends will also be highlighted.
