How to share research data (Skype)

Link to the Skype course room: Join Skype Meeting

There are many good reasons for sharing research data that are not subject to ethical, legal, or security restrictions. Sharing allows other researchers to reproduce our research, it might lead to more citations, and it can open for new collaborations. In addition, the requirement on sharing open research data becomes more and more widespread among scientific journals, organisations, and funders. From September 2017, this requirement also applies to employees at UiT The Arctic University of Norway, see Principles and guidelines for research data management at UiT

In this course, we discuss the advantages of sharing open research data and how we go about selecting a suitable archive. We will also provide a brief introduction to UiT Open Research Data, UiT’s institutional archive for open research data. In addition, we briefly talk about sharing open metadata when the data material itself has restricted access.

For more information about research data management at UiT, see the UiT Research Data Portal
