spring 2019 MED-2001 Project thesis in medicine - 10 ECTS
Course content
Unsystematic review of literature.
The student has a research question that he/she would like to solve through literature search. Through the course the students learn basic methods for assessment of literature by phrasing a specific research question within a disease entity, find relevant MESH terms for disease, intervention(s) and outcome(s). The student do the search in collaboration with a supervisor.
The students report the search activity, what was done, what was found, and summarize the findings in a thesis. The thesis should contain a relevant introduction, including a clear aim of the work (research question), followed by a method section that describes in a transparent way the search strategy/terms used/titles selected/abstract red/publication red and included, results (what was found), discuss the results across studies with implications for future research/clinical practice/change in guidelines, and complete a reference list. Note that the thesis must follow the accepted rules for citations of publications.
The student is responsible for finding a supervisor at UiT.
VITKOM may assist in finding the relevant staff member.
