The Solid Earth Science Group at IG organizes this intensive course, and students who want to have credit points must sign up to GEO-3805 Special curriculum in Studentweb by 1st September.

The course will be given between 15th and 19th October, from 0900-1200 and 1400-1700.
Rooms will be announced later.

Course topics

1) Physical properties and rheology of magmatic systems

2) Geological mapping of granitic rocks: textural and compositional criteria to group facies and pulses that make up an intrusive body

3) Primary structures related to flow, accumulation and assimilation

4) Magmatic deformation and kinematic indicators

5) Structure of the continental crust and processes of migration of granitic magmas

6) Mineralogy and petrography of granites. Implications and genetic interpretations

7) Estimating physico-chemical conditions for the crystallization of acid magmas: P, T, a (fluids)

8) Applications of elemental and isotopic geochemistry to the identification of processes in the genesis and evolution of acid magmas

Students who do not need the study points, but are interested in genesis of granici magmas, are still welcome to participate.
