If you want to learn Norwegian during your studies here in Norway or you have recently been employed at the university and want to learn the Norwegian language, then theses courses are for you!
These courses are exclusively for employees and international students at UiT The Arctic University of Norway. The courses will run for an entire semester. It is possible to attend courses at the same level only once. Most courses will take place in the afternoons and evenings.
In the spring semester of 2016, we offer courses at Level 1A (Introductory Level, first part), Level 1B (Introductory Level, second part), and Level 2 (Intermediate Level).
Level 1A This course is for students who have no prior knowledge of Norwegian. The time commitment is 48 hours (4 hours weekly). The instructional material will be provided by your teacher.
Level 1B This course is for students who have some prior knowledge of Norwegian. The time commitment is 48 hours (4 hours weekly). To enroll in this course you must prove your skills through a placement test (see below). The instructional material will be provided by your teacher.
Level 2 This course builds on Level 1 and covers the book STEIN PÅ STEIN. The time commitment is 78 hours (6 hours weekly). To enroll in this course you must prove your skills through a placement test (see below).
Students under the Quota Scheme and some other students on international master's degree programmes are not allowed to take Norwegian courses in their first semester of study. Please contact the study administrator for your master's programme to find out if this applies to you.
Registration
Important! Before you can register for the courses you must log in as a staff or student.

For registration, please fill in the registation form by pushing the button to the right "Log in first before signing up here".
Please note that you must state your affiliation to the University of Tromsø when you register (Faculty: press on the book to the right).
Registration deadline: Friday January 22. 2016 Registration will be open from Decembery 2015.
Placement test For those who are applying for Level 1B or Level 2, there will be a placement test held Monday January 25. at 6 PM (18:00) in room E-0101 at the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences and Education. The placement test is mandatory.
Information about your Group: All information about your group will be sent to you by e-mail on January 29. Therefore, be sure to fill in a valid e-mail address in the registration form.
Classes begin: Monday February 1, 2016.
