EUBORDERSCAPES: Border Crossing and Cultural Production

EUBORDERSCAPES: Border Crossing and Cultural Production

“Border Crossing and Cultural Production” is a work package in the EUBORDERSCAPES research project (2012-2016, European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme)

Work package 10 in the EUBORDERSCAPES project related to “cultural production” and artistic endeavour to the social construction of borders. This work package explored different literary and artistic examples of how culturally produced representations have contributed to socio-political interpretations of state borders as well as challenged official meanings, symbolisms and functions attached to state borders. This work package opened a humanities perspective that is not merely additional to social science approaches and that also promotes a more comprehensive understanding of the role of cultural production as a bordering practise.

The Border Poetics / Border Culture research group at UiT The Arctic University of Norway coordinated work package 10.
