Narrating the High North (NHN) is an interdisciplinary reasearch group focusing on politics, society and culture in the high north.

The basis of this research group comprises three established research projects working on Norwegian Polar Politics 1870-2014, Arctic literature, and the history of research into the northern lights. A series of social science and humanities fields are represented in the research group, including Documentary Studies, History, Cultural Studies, Literary Studies, Religious Studies, Political Science and History of Science. The research group also incorporates researchers/academics from other departments of the University of Tromsø, and from external institutions. Approximately 30 researchers, including doctoral candidates, are linked to NHN.
