COAT Varanger's study areas are located high in the mountains on the Varanger Peninsula. Here we use the field station at Skoarrojohka or Hubehytta as a base in connection with fieldwork in winter, autumn, and summer. Fieldwork often requires various types of scientific equipment, batteries, tools, and not least food for field assistants and researchers. To make this feasible, we depend on the ability to use snowmobiles during the winter months and ATVs during the summer months. COAT has therefore invested in its own snowmobiles and ATVs, which are usually stored in Vadsø.
