    Forskningsinteresser

The aim of my PhD project is to improve our comprehension of methane related processes in lacustrine sediments in Svalbard as well as northern Norway and Sweden.

Through the stable isotopic analyses of sediment cores, I investigate the origin and age of organic matter that serves as source for methanogenesis, and how they influence net methane emissions on decadal to millennial timescale.

I will thus explore whether - and to what extent - the CH4 contribution by Arctic lakes to the ongoing global changes may be influenced by different climatic periods in the recent past.
