“Role of Human Papilloma Virus Types in Etiology of Cervical Cancer”
To improve the screening strategies and, also, to produce a more effective prophylactic HPV vaccine, it is essential to know the role of HPV types in etiology of cervical cancer. In this project, it is aimed to 1) examine the predictive value of one mRNA HPV test in a prospective cohort study of screening for cervical cancer (cohort study) 2) investigate the distribution of HPV types in cervical cancer by screening histories (case series) 3) compare the HPV DNA and HPV mRNA test performances in detection of HPV subtypes in cervical cancer tissues (CIN3+) of South African women (direct comparison study).
