Students and researchers with an interest in Indigenous and Sámi studies are invited to a roundtable discussion with Professor Helen Verran, hosted by the International Indigenous Methodology Network. We will commence with an informal discussion of Professor Verran’s text: Metaphysics and Learning (2007). How might we consider “ontological commitments” in our own research and teaching/learning?
Professor Verran is from Australia and is the author of the award-winning book Science and an African Logic (2001). She is primarily an epistemologist whose most recent work has been committed to environmental policy and indigeneity; in particular, she has worked alongside the Aboriginal Yolngu Aboriginal Australians in Arnhem land.
