MBI-8002 Research Seminar Series in Infection, Inflammation and Immunity - 4 ECTS
Course content
The course covers different aspects of antimicrobial drugs, pharmacoepidemiology, antimicrobial resistance, microbial adaption and evolution, resistance determinants, spread of resistance, microbial determinants for colonisation and infection, biofilm, host determinants for bacterial colonisation, host response, all aspects of innate and adaptive immune response to alloantigens, microbial antigens and autoantigens, and infection epidemiology including methods to study such aspects.Objectives of the course
From this course students are expected to achieve:- Knowledge about local, national and international research activities within infection, inflammation and immunity.
- Knowledge about methods used within the research areas infection, inflammation and immunity.
- Proficiency in oral scientific presentation and peer evaluation
Assessment
Work requirements
- Research seminars are obligatory during six semesters.
- Three oral presentations of research project or selected subject.
- One evaluation of a PhD student presentation.
Assessment
Students must attend a minimum of 70 % of the presentations to pass the course. Extended absence due to research stay(s) outside Tromsø must be approved by the course committee in advance. The Oral presentations will be evaluated as passed/not passed by one supervisor and one PhD student. All parts have to be passed to pass the course.

No continuation as the course is given continuously.
