| Objectives
Democracy and the constitutional state are distinguished by constitutional rights, the open and controlled exercise of power, the freedom of opinion, and respect for the rights and worth of fellow citizens. In this state, there must be jurists who will remain independent and critical to the judicial system, and have a historical aud international theorv of Iaw perspective. The primary airn of the jurist education is to sene rhe general demand in socierv for a qualified jurist profession. The candidates will, during tbe course of the 5-year programme, achieve a level of knowledge a.nd skill which adequateh satisfies the recuirements made by society regarding erhica] and professiona tenable legal practice. The caudidates wiU gain a basis for understanding the scientific method of thought. In order to anani rhese alms. the education will be designed ut order for the studentss, as they face increased skill requirements, to develop the abilitv to - understand the system of justice, both nationally and internationally - identify, analyse, consider and solve legal problems - analyse facts and make concrete judicial decisions - independently seek legal source material - present - orally and in wrlting source material and ones own arguments in relation to judicial or politics of law issues - employ the obtained knowledge in a practical manner - independently ensure further professional development - work independently and in collaboration with others - work in a manner focusing on managing and preventing conflicts | Contents A study year comprises 60 study points and is based on 10 months of full time study.
First Unit 60 sp: Ex. phil., 10 ap (Faculty of Social Science)) Ex. fac.(Methodology and Perspective subjects), 10 sp: - introduction to Philosophy of Law (3 sp) - introduction to the study of Law including Sources of Law (5 sp) - introduction to the International Character of the Court (2 ap) Introduction to the Study of Law and Practical Judicial Methodology, 40 ap: lntroduction to Private Law: - Contract Law (10 sp) - Family Law and the Law of lnheritance and Suecession (10 sp). lntroduction to Public Law: - International Law (8 ap) - State Law (12 ap) | Form of teaching The teaching consists of a combination of lectures and seminaras. | Exam and assessment First Unit including Examen Philosophicum and Examen Facultatum The Ex. Phil. course is taken at the Faculty of SocialScience. The exam must be passed no later than the start of the Second Unit Master¿a Programme. The Ex. Fac. course exam is a five hour written exam. Grades A-F are used. TheEx. Fac. exam mustbe passed before the final First Unit exam.
No later than a week before the written exam, First Unitstudents must have completed and passed an oral presentation as well as pass a term paper.
A written exam of up to 6 hours and an oral exam of up to `/2 hour on a topic given in advance will be arranged at the completion of the Unit. The assessment scale for both exams consists of grades A-F, cp. §~7 and 8 in the Examination Regulations for the First to Fourth Units. The grades for both the written exam and the oral exam will be stated in the Examination Certificate.
For students with right to study, it is possible to re-sit exams, Gp. final subsection in §~5 and 8 in the Examination Regulations for the First to Fourth Units Master¿s Programme. | Date(s) of written examination 16.05.2007 The exam date is preliminary and may be subject to change.
