PhD education at the University of Tromsø

The University of Tromsø offer researchers education in all our main research areas. The PhD education is organised at the Faculties in wide PhD Programmes or in thematically more targeted PhD Schools. In addition, it is possible to apply for the free DrPhilos Degree, which is mostly targeted for Norwegian and Nordic applicants.

Applications to our PhD-Programmes are handled by the Faculties, and early contact to the academic environment is strongly adviced. In addition to the academic scrutiny of the application, the Faculty will assess the financial frame for completion of the study. Intake of PhD-students may either be through positions announced by the university, by positions at partner instutions and entreprises, or through scholarships and other financial arrangements.
