Nordic Research School on Local Dynamics - NOLD
The Nordic Research School on Local Dynamics, NOLD, has since it was established in 2000, arranged seven PhD-courses. The final course was arranged in Klaksvik March 2004.

The focus of the research school has been to understand the dynamics taking place within northern local communities, between them and in relation to national, international and global actors and processes. Among themes included are new technology, natural resource management and tourism. The aim of NOLD has been to strengthen the Nordic cooperation within research and education, and includes institutions and PhD-students from all the five different Nordic countries. All courses has also been visited by lecturers, and students, from outside the Nordic region.
