There are more than 370 million indigenous peoples in some 90 countries in the world today, accounting for 15 percent of the world’s poor and one-third of the 900 million people living in extreme poverty. Indigenous people tend to experience low levels of education, increased health problems, higher crime rates and human rights abuses.

In an article published in Universitetsavisa.no, head of the Department of Academic affairs- International Office, Astrid Revhaug at the University of Tromsø shows concern about the increasing use of education agents in connection with application to English taught courses and programs at the University of Tromsø.

The University of Tromsø annonces that the Board of Direcvtors has decided on a new gender action plan, which aims at raising the percentage of women in the highets academic category from the present 23% to 30% by 2014.

Seminar: Scientists in solidarity

How can the University of Tromsø (UiT) and its staff contribute to making a difference in solidarity work? In order to answer this question, the Rectorate has invited three speakers who will share their knowledge in the field and initiate a round table discussion. This will focus on UiTs current and potential contribution to international solidarity work.

Commencing Autumn 2011. Spread over five universities in four Nordic countries, the NOCCAP network gives you access to a unique set of scientific competences.

Application status is available online, processing time 4-5 months from the deadline 1 December.

Pål Øian har sammen med Jouko Pirhonen hatt ansvaret for en studie der leger og jordmødre på fire sykehus har lært en metode for å redusere forekomsten av skade på lukkemuskelen etter fødsel.

Due to technical errors it is not possible to register English as exam language for some English courses. We are working to solve this.

In the contract you receive it states that you have to return a signed copy of your contract and pay your deposit within seven days. This is only valid for Norwegian students.

Courses will be given on introductory and intermediate levels
